Commercial Insurance Matters
Hi Everyone,
All small business owners need insurance for their businesses, but many are not really comfortable about what kind of coverage they may need to start out. Businesses are all different but will need a package of coverages to take care of their liability for doing business. In other words when a person is injured while doing business with you or one of your employee and he sues, you want to be covered. You may not be at fault but, a small occurance can lead to a lawsuit that requires you to hire a lawyer to defend against it. Paying for this can equal a large sum of money very quickly in attorney fees alone. Many business owners have a saying that: “It is not if they get sued but when!”
We must make a disclaimer and say that We are not attorneys but insurance agents. So do not consider any question or comment as legal advice or advice in general, but as a general discussion that may or may not apply to your situation in any way, place, or at any particular time.
We will try to make our comments as applicable to your situation as we can but also as general in nature to help our other readers as well.
We would like any questions about small business commercial insurance that you may have!
We will do our best to help you understand what you are looking for and why you may need the coverage.
Insurance is not rocket science but is technical and full of details of no seeming relevance to the customer at times. The details normally are components that affect the amount of risk the companies are being asked to underwrite. Another words they directly affect your rate and whether you are buying the coverage that you need to limit your risks. Bottom line is the better the underwriters understand your business the more secure they will feel in giving you a better rate.

Tell us about your business and if you have ever been sued? The ugly truth is you can be not at fault in any way but sued and made to pay lawyers bills for defense expenses, time to testify and deal with the suit without any recourse to recoup payment. A business we had insured was sued with one of these frivolus lawsuits and even though there were many reasons it should not have gone forward it did. Finally it was settled, without any fault attributed to the owner. but the business owner still had many out of pocket expenses that cost his insurance company about $80,000.
